The memorial was erected and dedicated in honor of the boys of Parryville who served in the World War: Russel Smith, Raymond McClellan, Gerald Eshleman, Raymond Smith, Burton Noll, Fred Peters, Herbert Knappenberger, Elwood Frable, James Duane, Robert Duane, Robert Brown, Warren Remaly, Percy Reppert, John Smoyer, Granville Wentz, Charles Markley, Stanley Serfass, Robert Wentz, and Howard Smith. Raymond McClellan was killed in action on Nov. 1, 1918.
