Swann Covered Bridge spans the Locust Fork of the Black Warrior River in Blount County, Alabama, near Cleveland, and is one of the county’s last surviving historic covered bridges. Built in 1933 by a crew led by Zelma C. Tidwell on Swann Farm land, it was first known as the Joy Covered Bridge because it connected Cleveland with Joy. A wood-and-metal Town lattice truss with three spans, it is about 324 feet long, making it the longest surviving historic covered bridge in Alabama. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981, it has undergone repeated preservation and repairs after unsafe conditions and vehicle damage.
