Nectar Covered Bridge once carried Nectar Bridge Road across the Locust Fork of the Black Warrior River east of Nectar in Blount County, Alabama. Built in 1934 under foreman Zelma C. Tidwell, the wood-and-metal Town Lattice truss bridge stretched 385 feet over four spans, ranking as the third-longest covered bridge built in the county and at one time the seventh-longest in the United States. For decades it served local traffic and also functioned as a community gathering place associated with large river baptisms. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981, it was destroyed by vandals in 1993, though its stone piers still remain.
