Mount Tuscarora is a prominent 10,646-foot mountain in Utah’s central Wasatch Range, southeast of Salt Lake City, standing between the Alta Ski Area and Brighton Ski Resort in the Wasatch–Cache National Forest. Rising steeply above Lake Mary, it forms part of the divide between the headwaters of Big Cottonwood Creek and Little Cottonwood Creek, linking it to two major neighboring canyon systems. The peak is composed of granodiorite from the Alta stock and has a subarctic climate near alpine conditions, with heavy winter snow and summer thunderstorms. Its officially recognized name has an uncertain origin, and the mountain remains a defining feature of the region’s skyline and watershed.
