Sergeant Walter F. Wesgan of the 32nd Field Artillery, 1st Division, was the first Polish-American from Uxbridge killed in World War II. He died in the Battle of Kasserine Pass in North Africa on March 21, 1943. Also named among those who died in the service of their country are Walter J. Kieronski, Ignatious J. Mocha, and Charles Piascik.
