The Arboretum of the University of Central Florida is an 80-acre botanical garden on the university’s main Orlando campus near the engineering area. Part of UCF’s pedestrian-oriented landscape, it contains more than 600 plant species, including more than 100 bromeliads, arranged in cultivated gardens. It serves both as landscaped green space and as a living plant collection within a major Central Florida public research university. The arboretum also reflects the university’s broader development from Florida Technological University, created to support the region’s space-age economy, into the modern University of Central Florida, where it continues to add botanical variety and open space to the main campus.
