Mount Whitecap is a 13,025-foot mountain in Wyoming’s northern Wind River Range, standing in the Bridger Wilderness of Bridger-Teton National Forest southwest of Gannett Peak. Set in a high glaciated landscape, it rises near Baby Glacier and Split Mountain and ranks as Wyoming’s 30th tallest peak. Its significance lies in its place within one of the state’s most rugged and remote alpine regions, where backcountry travel and mountaineering dominate. The surrounding terrain is serious mountain country, with hazards including bears, wildfire, snow, cold nights, and steep class 4 and 5 routes that have seen fatal falls and rockfall accidents over the years.
