At Fairview Cemetery, a veterans monument honors those who served their country, including Corporal Horace M. Thorne, known as “Bud,” of Troop D, 89th Cavalry Squadron, 9th Armored Division, who died in the service of his country during World War II, and Brigadier General Peter E. Genovese Jr., U.S. Army (Retired), 1937-2002, remembered with the words “Can Do Let's Go.” Around the base are engraved 310 names, as of March 1, 2008, recognizing veterans and honorees listed across six panels.
