The Bethany Cemetery site once included Bethany Christian Church, Bethany School, and the Bethany Home Demonstration Club, but no trace of the church or school remains today. Attendance at Bethany Christian Church and Bethany School dwindled in the 1930's as road improvements made access to town easier, and the buildings were eventually demolished from lack of use. Addison Clark and his brother Randolph secured funding from Bethany Christian Church to start Add Ran College, with financing mainly provided by C.S. Haggard, Captain R.W. Carpenter, and Captain Bush. C.S. Haggard was repaid for his loan with scholarships for his children, while Captain R.W. Carpenter and Captain Bush were repaid with land. From its humble beginnings in Thorp Spring, Texas, Add Ran College later moved to Waco, Texas, in 1895, became Texas Christian University in 1902, lost its main administration building to fire in 1910, and then relocated to Fort Worth, Texas, after business leaders offered 50 acres and $200,000.00 to rebuild there. In 1993, Texas Christian University honored Addison and Randall Clark with the unveiling of a statue.
