Archaeologists completely excavated two burial mounds here in 1938, and the mound at the site is a reconstruction of the larger one. The large mound was 21 feet tall and dome shaped, while a smaller mound 100 feet to its south was 2 feet tall and rectangular. Indians built these cemetery mounds between 100 BC and AD 400.
