The Dole–Little House in Newbury, Massachusetts, was built around 1715 for cattleman Richard Dole, partly from materials salvaged from an earlier structure that may have dated to about 1670. Originally a two-room dwelling centered on a chimney with a small rear kitchen shed, it was later altered with a larger lean-to. In 1954, Florence Evans Bushee acquired and restored the house to reflect its early appearance, rebuilding the lean-to and relocating a small-paned sash. One chamber’s original paneling was moved to the National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C., with a copy returned to the house. After Bushee’s death in 1975, the property passed to Historic New England.
