Lewis County honored the boys from the county who gave their lives for the cause of human liberty in the World War of 1914–1919. They were Clarence Adams, Thomas Blizzard, Alvin Burns, John L. Chadwick, Robert G. Cooper, Daniel Dyer, Otto Dixon, Clyde Dempsey, Mack L. Forbes, Otto D. Latham, James D. McCarty, Fred B. McClain, Robert McGill, Earnest E. Moore, Bruce Marshall, Isom Nolan, William McKinley Penrod, Glen Rayborn, Aubrey Renchen, Luther Ruckel, Alva L. Ruark, Roland Simpson, Frank Smith, James M. Stevens, Earl J. Stout, William Veach, Arthur M. Welch, and William I. Wilson. Among them, some died in action, some died of wounds, some died of disease, and some were lost at sea.
