Savage Run Wilderness is a protected wilderness area in south-central Wyoming within Medicine Bow National Forest. Established in 1978, it preserves important rangeland that supports a large elk population. As a U.S. Wilderness Area, it is managed under the 1964 Wilderness Act, which keeps the landscape undeveloped and free of motorized and mechanized travel, including bicycles. The area has no constructed roads or buildings, and both logging and mining are prohibited. At the same time, it remains open to certain traditional outdoor uses, with camping and fishing allowed by permit and hunting permitted during the proper season.
