Carl Wolter III grew up in Parryville and learned valuable life lessons through play. In high school, he was the state champion in the javelin; at Penn State, he became an All-American in track and field and set the Big Ten Conference college record in the javelin. As a physical education teacher, he has impacted the lives of youth. In 2002 and 2011, he earned the title of RE/MAX World Long Drive Champion in golf, and in 2012 he was inducted into the Carbon County Hall of Fame. Parryville residents have the chance to be great, and it starts with their drive. The land was donated by Harry E. Orkin and dedicated to him in 1969.
