Erected on April 26, 1975, the Revolutionary War Bicentennial in Salem honored the men of New Salem Parish who fought for the nation’s independence, including Isaiah Armstrong, Capt. Stephen Billings, John Deathick, Capt. Daniel Dodge, Cpl. Elihu Dodge, Thomas Fish, Thomas Gates, Joseph Harris, Capt. Nathaniel Harris, Cpl. John Holmes, Capt. Amos Jones, Capt. Ebenezer Lathrop, Jacob Loomis, John Loomis, Sgt. Joseph Loomis, Sgt. Joseph Morgan, Jonathan Rathbone, Samuel Rathbon, Ashel Ransom, Lt. Elijah Ransom, Ebenezer Rogers, Elijah Treadway, Mathew Turner, and Joshua Way; those marked with a star served in the Lexington Alarm.
