In the small village of Middleway, famously known for the "Legend of Wizard Clip," eerie occurrences unfolded in the late 18th century, when Adam Livingston moved his family from Pennsylvania to a prosperous farm. In 1794, they were plagued by a series of inexplicable events—mysterious noises, ghostly voices, and the peculiar destruction of household items, often cut into crescent shapes. Despite seeking help from various Protestant ministers without success, Livingston was guided by a dream to a Catholic priest, whom he recognized upon seeing in Shepherdstown as Father Cahill. After visits from Father Cahill and Father Galitzin in 1797, during which they offered prayers and celebrated Mass at the Livingston home, the disturbances gradually ceased. This experience led Adam Livingston to convert to Catholicism and donate part of his land to the Church, which established today's Priest Field pastoral center.
