San Antonio Hot Springs is a group of geothermal springs in northern New Mexico’s Santa Fe National Forest, about 12 miles north of Jemez Springs. On a steep hillside off Forest Road 176, several hot sources feed primitive rock-lined pools that cool as the water descends, creating different soaking temperatures from very hot source water to lower, cooler basins. The springs rise through fractures in rhyolite porphyry and discharge about 150 gallons per minute. Known also as Murray Spring, the site was partly shaped in the 1930s when the Civilian Conservation Corps increased the flow and built the pools, giving this rustic soaking place its distinctive character.
