San Emigdio Mountain stands in the San Emigdio Mountains of Southern California in Kern County, a few miles north of the Ventura County line. Within Los Padres National Forest, near Frazier Mountain and northwest of Pine Mountain Club, it forms part of the southern wall of the San Joaquin Valley. Lying west of Interstate 5 and the Tehachapi Mountains, it occupies rugged high country where the southern edge of the Central Valley meets the mountain ranges of Southern California. Its importance lies chiefly in its place within this larger mountain landscape rather than as a separate developed destination.
