Bristol Mountain Ski Resort in South Bristol, in New York’s Finger Lakes region, opened in 1964 after Fred Sarkis developed part of a 360-acre property. Known for its 1,200-foot vertical rise, it grew through expanded snowmaking, new lifts, and terrain ranging from beginner slopes to double-black-diamond trails, becoming a major western New York ski destination. Modern upgrades added high-speed lifts, new runs, and year-round attractions such as fall sky rides and an aerial adventure park. Bristol also became an important center for freestyle skiing, producing Olympic athletes, while the summit’s earlier use as an FM broadcasting site links the mountain to a broader regional history.
