Following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack, beam artifact I-169c was recovered from the World Trade Center site in New York City. A park is dedicated to the men and women who lost their lives that day and to the men and women in emergency services who continue to give their lives for the protection and care of the public and their property. At 8:46 AM, American Airlines Flight 11 impacted the North Tower, which collapsed at 10:28 AM; 1,402 civilians were lost there, along with 87 lives on Flight 11, 343 FDNY personnel, and 8 private EMS. At 9:02 AM, United Airlines Flight 175 impacted the South Tower, which collapsed at 9:59 AM; 614 civilians were lost there, along with 60 lives on Flight 175, 23 NYPD, 37 PAPD, and Sirius, a bomb sniffing dog.
