C. E. K. Mees Observatory in Bristol, New York, is an astronomical observatory operated by the University of Rochester and named for C. E. Kenneth Mees in recognition of his pioneering work on sensitive photographic emulsions used in astronomy. Located on the highest point in Ontario County, it benefits from elevation and low light pollution that make it a strong regional site for viewing the night sky. Its principal instrument is a twenty-four-inch Cassegrain telescope in a two-story dome, supplemented by several smaller telescopes. The observatory also supports public outreach, faculty retreats, and overnight stays by astronomers, and offers free summer tours.
