Sydney Falls, also known as Kotsuck Creek Falls or Kotsuck Falls, is a waterfall in Mount Rainier National Park, Washington, where Kotsuck Creek drops 200 feet into a steep canyon in a plume about 75 feet wide. The cascade starts with a smaller 30-foot tier, then splits into three streams before plunging down a sheer cliff and rejoining below. The name Sydney Falls appears in a 1912 reference placing it along the Wonderland Trail. Kotsuck is said to come from a Chinook word meaning “middle,” though uncertainty remains because the names Kotsuck Creek and Chinook Creek may at some point have been switched.
