This building was built prior to the Civil War. In 1917 Ernest H. Koch, Sr. and Henry H. Powell organized the Newburgh Tobacco Co. to make smoking and chewing tobacco. Its slogan was "The Twist that put Newburgh on the Map". In 1946 the building was made into apartments.
