Robert Kidd served in the Revolutionary War from 1774 to 1778 and settled in this area in 1781 with Mary McGowan. Born in 1749 and died in 1836, Robert Kidd was buried a half mile south of this site. Their son John Kidd, born in 1802 and died in 1862, was a soldier in the Black Hawk War from 1831 to 1832 and married Mary Fults, daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Greene Fults. Jacob Fults served in the War of 1812 from 1812 to 1817 and settled in this area in 1818. Born in 1793 and died in 1841, he was married to Elizabeth Greene Fults, who was born in 1803 and died in 1881 and was a descendant of Nathaniel Greene, a general in the American Revolutionary War under General George Washington.
