Crosch and Ahlborn established the first bronze powder manufacturing company in the western hemisphere in 1873, and it extended to this site in 1876. Its bronze powder was used for paint, ink, and other purposes. This was also the site of Verona's first grist and sawmill from 1790 to 1876.
