Myron Edgar "Scottie" Scott led a fascinating life. While in high school, he began working for the Dayton Daily News as a cartoonist and also became an accomplished photographer for the paper. Some of his photographs appeared in Life magazine, where they were seen by thousands. Later, after seeing boys racing soap box-like contraptions with baby buggy wheels, he came up with the names "All-American Soap Box Derby" and the "Corvette" automobile.
