Haystack Mountain, a 1,680-foot peak in Norfolk, Connecticut, is the defining landmark of the 354-acre Haystack Mountain State Park. Its summit is topped by the 50-foot Haystack Mountain Tower, built in 1929 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which overlooks Norfolk and neighboring Canaan. Long valued as a scenic destination and natural high point, the mountain also preserves a representative upland landscape. Its vegetation is dominated by mountain laurel, along with pine and maple, and its wildlife includes deer, bears, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, bobcats, skunks, and opossums.
