Dennis Hill State Park in Norfolk, Connecticut, preserves the hilltop summer estate of Dr. Frederic S. Dennis as a 240-acre public recreation area for hiking, picnicking, and scenic views. Centered on the 1,627-foot summit of Dennis Hill, the park includes trails, picnic areas, pavilions, and a bungalow-style summit building. That structure began as the Tamarack Lodge Bungalow, designed in 1908 by Alfredo S.G. Taylor as part of Dennis's estate, Tamarac, where he hosted prominent guests. Given to the state in 1935 after Dennis's death, the property remains notable both for its broad vistas and for the surviving lodge, an important example of local summer estate architecture.
