Parashant is a remote landscape with no crowds, where a lonely and rocky two-track road in a 4x4 leads to the edge of the Grand Wash Cliffs, a solitary vista deep into the Grand Canyon, shade under ponderosas at Mt. Trumbull, and Pakoon Springs in one of the driest places in the world. It is split between the low elevation Mojave Desert on the west side and high elevation pinyon, juniper, and ponderosa highlands on the east side. Sun averages 310 days per year. June through September brings very hot summer weather on the west side, with daily highs above 100°F and nights above 80°F below 2,500 feet, while the high elevation east side is about 15°F cooler. Heavy afternoon monsoon storms are common from June through September, and roads often remain muddy or icy above 5,500 feet from December through February.
