Pearce Ferry sits at the upper end of Lake Mead in northwestern Arizona, where the reservoir ends and the Colorado River enters the narrower, cliff-lined reach of the Grand Canyon. Named for a ferry operated by the Pearce family beginning around 1876, it preserves a link to the region’s travel history while marking a clear geographic transition from the lake’s low, sandy banks to 277 miles of canyon between steep, layered walls. Reached by the 52-mile Dolan Spring Road from U.S. Route 93, the area is managed by the National Park Service, open for recreation, and known for fishing largemouth bass, striped bass, and channel catfish.
