Delmar School was established in 1896 as both a grammar and high school in a one-room building, and by 1900 it had expanded to three rooms. In its best years, it had as many as four teachers and well over one hundred students, and over its fifty-six-year history it taught more than six hundred students. Although the high school, serving grades 8 through 10, closed in the mid-1930s, the grammar school, serving grades 1 through 7, continued to serve the Delmar community until it closed in 1952.
