Menominee River Park Archeological District
History
1
Near Kingsford, Michigan, this site preserves a Woodland-period campsite within what is now Menominee River Park. Its significance rests on the archaeological evidence of earlier human activity along the Menominee River, linking the modern recreational landscape to a much older history of seasonal or temporary occupation. Recognized for that importance, the site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.
