Joel R. Davis was born on 8/08/80 in Philadelphia, New York, and began serving his community at the age of 23. He was known as an honorable man who treated anyone and everyone as an equal, with respect and dignity. On the night of July 29, 2017, Trooper Joel Davis made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to an active shooter, saving the lives of three innocent people. He was recognized by his community as selfless, brave, and heroic, and he was remembered as a loving father, son, brother, husband, coach, and friend. He served the citizens of Jefferson County and the State of New York for fourteen years.
