Wilhelm Fischer was born in the Palatinate on April 11, 1706, arrived at Philadelphia on Aug. 17, 1733, and died on October 23, 1771. His wife, Elizabeth Gertrude, daughter of George and Veronica Hain, was born in 1711 and died on June 4, 1768. Interred at this spot, they were among the earliest members of Cacusi, or Hain's Reformed Church, and were the parents of 8 sons and 3 daughters. As pioneer ancestors, they braved the perils of the frontier in search of a new home for their posterity, a new church with religious freedom, and helped lay the foundations of a new nation, which their sons fought to establish.
