Phippsburg remembers those who served in the Revolutionary War from April 19, 1775 to September 3, 1783; the Civil War from April 12, 1861 to May 26, 1865; the Spanish American War from April 25, 1898 to August 12, 1898; the Korean War Era from June 25, 1950 to January 31, 1955; the Vietnam War Era from December 22, 1961 to May 7, 1975; Grenada from August 24, 1982 to July 31, 1984; Panama from December 20, 1989 to January 31, 1990; and the Persian Gulf War from August 2, 1990. Phippsburg also remembers honored dead on its honor roll: Arthur Wyman, Army, in World War 1; Paul Davis, Army, in World War 2; and Irving Harrington, Merchant Marine, in World War 2. It also honors mariners who left port never to return. The memorial was dedicated in 2001, built through the efforts of volunteers and donations, and inspired by the vision of Selectman Debora L Thomas, 1955 - 1996.
