Knight Island State Park
Nature
Knight Island State Park is a remote Vermont state park on Lake Champlain near North Hero that occupies most of the one hundred twenty-five-acre Knight Island, while ten acres at its southern tip remain privately owned. Administered by the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation, it is accessible only by boat and has no dock, so visitors must arrange their own transportation. The park is devoted to low-impact outdoor recreation such as hiking, fishing, picnicking, wildlife watching, camping, and winter sports. Its camping is primitive, with seven campsites, composting outhouses, no potable water, and required reservations.
