Michael Marlett - Charles Wixom House
History
2
The south section of this Michigan farmhouse was built circa 1840 by pioneer settlers Michael and May Marlett, who owned the surrounding 160 acres from 1834 to 1867. Charles and Eliza Wixom purchased the farm in 1867 and built the north portion, visible from 12 Mile Road, in the 1870s on a stone foundation with 9-foot ceilings throughout. The farm included produce, dairy, sheep, and an orchard typical of the 19th century.
