Mount Hinman is a seven thousand four hundred ninety-two-foot peak in Washington’s Alpine Lakes Wilderness, on the border of Snoqualmie and Wenatchee national forests, near Mount Daniel in a rugged Cascade landscape of glaciers, granite walls, alpine basins, and deep U-shaped valleys. Hinman Glacier on its north side and Foss Glacier to the northeast tie it closely to the glacial character of the surrounding wilderness. Named in 1934 for Dr. Harry B. Hinman, a founder of the Everett branch of The Mountaineers club, the mountain stands in terrain shaped by tectonic activity, uplift, faulting, and repeated glaciation, under the wet, snowy climate typical of the Cascades.
