Mount Daniel is a major peak in Washington’s Alpine Lakes Wilderness, the highest point in both King and Kittitas counties and the highest summit on the Cascade crest within that protected area. Its eastern slopes feed the Cle Elum River headwaters, linking it to surrounding watersheds. Formed from varied volcanic rocks beside the Mount Hinman plutonic stock, it has five distinct summits, though the East Peak officially bears the name despite not being the highest. Several glaciers cling to its slopes, including Lynch Glacier, but they are shrinking and stagnating. First known climbed in 1925, Mount Daniel remains a defining central Washington peak.
