Lone Pine Peak rises on the east side of California’s Sierra Nevada, immediately west of the town of Lone Pine in eastern California. Its summit marks the eastern boundary of the John Muir Wilderness within Inyo National Forest. Towering above the Owens Valley side of the range, it is one of the most prominent high mountains in the landscape around Lone Pine. The peak is also widely recognized beyond the Sierra itself because it appears in the default desktop wallpaper for macOS Sierra.
