Thumb Mountain is a steep-sided 1,978-foot monadnock in Hancock, New Hampshire, sharing a base with nearby Skatutakee Mountain and offering broad views from open summit ledges, including a notable view of Mount Monadnock’s north face. Its slopes drain into a network of brooks, lakes, and rivers that ultimately connect to the Merrimack River and the Atlantic Ocean. The mountain is also part of a 12,500-acre conservation supersanctuary created through protected lands and easements with support from the Harris Center for Outdoor Education, other nonprofit groups, and New Hampshire, giving the area lasting recreational and educational value through trails and an environmental education center.
