Bear Mountain is a peak in California’s Tehachapi Mountains near Tehachapi, rising north of Bear Valley Springs and west of the Tehachapi Loop, the spiral railroad line that climbs through Tehachapi Pass. It stands in a landscape of sugar pines and diverse wildlife, including California condors, mountain lions, mule deer, and bobcats. Much of the mountain lies on land owned by The Nature Conservancy, making it not only a prominent summit in the range but also an important area of protected habitat.
