Landscape Arch, in the Devils Garden at the north end of Arches National Park in Utah, is among the park’s most famous formations and one of the world’s longest natural rock arches. Named by Frank Beckwith during a 1933–1934 scientific expedition, it has served as a benchmark for comparing major stone spans. In 2004, it was measured at 290.1 feet across and ranked the fifth longest natural arch in the world. Its remarkably thin, delicate form is also unstable: major rockfalls in 1991 and 1995 led to closure of the trail beneath it, underscoring that erosion continues to reshape the arch.
