Big Shoals State Park lies on the Suwannee River about a mile east of White Springs off U.S. 41. It is notable for limestone bluffs and for containing Florida’s largest whitewater rapids, a rare feature in a state more often associated with flatwater rivers and springs. The park also offers more than 28 miles of hiking and nature trails as well as freshwater fishing. With its river scenery, trails, bluffs, and rapids, it stands out as one of the most distinctive landscapes in Florida’s state park system.
