General Robert E. Lee was associated here with directing the manufacture of Tallassee Carbines by workers at the Confederate Armory. The site also presents his words on duty, declaring, “Do your duty in all things. You cannot do more; you should never do less,” calling duty “the sublimest word in our language,” and linking true glory and honor to duty done and integrity of principle.
