Darby Creek was the first meeting house and graveyard in the county. It was promoted by Jobe Sharp, the first settler, and Thomas Antrim, a preacher. Quakers and Methodists alternated meetings there until 1813, when the first Methodist church was built three miles south. The Quakers built it in 1807 after holding home meetings from 1804 to 1806. Its first overseer was Joshua Ballinger in 1809. It was granted a Monthly Meeting in 1811, which continued until Goshen became head of the local Friends Society in 1824.
