Teanaway Peak is a 6,779-foot mountain in Washington’s Wenatchee Mountains on the boundary of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, dividing both Kittitas and Chelan counties and the watersheds draining south to the Teanaway River and north to Turnpike Creek in the Wenatchee basin. Managed within Wenatchee National Forest, it stands near Bills Peak and offers broad views toward Mount Stuart and the Stuart Range. Also known as Genes Peak, it is associated with mountaineer Gene Prater, co-inventor of the modern aluminum snowshoe and credited with several first ascents, tying the summit to the wider history of Northwest climbing and a landscape shaped by tectonics, volcanism, and glaciation.
