Double Butte is a mountain in Riverside County, California, north of Winchester between Perris Valley and the San Jacinto Valley, distinguished by the two buttes that form its twin summits. Its higher western summit reaches about 2,579 feet and the lower summit about 2,480 feet. The mountain is notable geologically because its eastern ridge is primarily metamorphic rock from the Triassic to Jurassic French Valley formation, while much of the rest is mainly Cretaceous granitic rock. As the westernmost summit of its range, it helps define the local landscape. Recreational use has been limited, with a few hiking trails, climbing sites, a closed regional park, and a nearby landfill site that also later closed.
