Suwannee Ridge Wildlife and Environmental Area is a 1,428-acre protected landscape in Hamilton County, Florida, southwest of Jasper, preserving longleaf pine uplands, hardwood hammocks, and karst terrain marked by sinkholes. First established as a mitigation site for gopher tortoises displaced by development, it still shows their burrows across the sandhill habitat, tying land management to a notable Florida species. The area also supports Sherman's fox squirrels, white-tailed deer, wild turkey, resident and migratory birds, wildflowers, and pollinators. Low-impact recreation includes a loop trail, unpaved roads for hiking and wildlife viewing, and hunting seasons supported by deer and turkey populations.
