Schoharie Junction was the site of the Schoharie Valley Railroad, which operated from January 4, 1867, to September 17, 1942, over 4.2 miles, and of the Middleburgh & Schoharie Railroad, which operated from October 19, 1868, to September 24, 1936, over 5.7 miles. The Schoharie County Bicentennial was observed in 1995.
